Who we are

Sudanese American Center of Arizona (“SAC”, “we”) is a nonprofit community organization in Arizona. This policy explains what information our website and phone app collect, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the website, the family portal, the staff dashboard and the SAC phone app.

What we collect

  • Account: your email address, your name and your preferred language. We sign you in with a one-time code sent to your email; we do not store passwords.
  • Your family: the names of family members, dates of birth (needed for age-based programs), and an optional family phone number.
  • Programs and Sunday School: registrations, class placement, attendance and grades, and any grade level, allergy or medical notes you choose to give us for your child.
  • Payments: what you paid for, amounts, dates and receipts. Card and bank details are entered on Stripe’s secure page and never reach SAC; for automatic renewal we keep only the card brand or bank name and the last 4 digits.
  • Things you send us: messages to SAC, contact-form messages, Kashif posts and gifts, job posts and newsletter sign-ups.
  • Phone app: a notification token so we can send you notifications you’ve turned on.
  • Security records: a log of important actions (for example sign-ins to the staff dashboard, payments and changes to family records) to protect accounts and SAC’s money.

What we don’t do

  • We do not sell or rent your information.
  • We do not show ads, and the website and app contain no advertising or tracking tools.
  • We do not ask for or keep government ID numbers, and we never see your full card or bank account number.

How we use it

  • To run memberships, programs, Sunday School and Kashif, and to issue receipts.
  • To send you emails and app notifications about your account, payments, renewals and announcements. You choose which ones under Settings.
  • To answer your messages and keep our community safe (for example handling reported posts).
  • To keep financial records SAC is required to keep as a nonprofit.

Who can see it

  • Adults in your family can see your family’s details. Other families cannot.
  • SAC staff and volunteers see only the parts they need for their role (for example, Sunday School teachers see their students).
  • Service providers that run the platform for SAC, only to provide their service: Supabase (database and sign-in), our website host, Stripe (payments), Resend (email) and Expo (app notifications).
  • Authorities, only if the law requires it.

Children

Children do not create their own accounts; parents add them to the family. Teens 13 and older may be given their own sign-in by their family. We collect children’s information only to run the programs their parents sign them up for.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while you have an account. Payment, receipt and accounting records are kept for as long as the law requires nonprofits to keep them, even after an account is deleted. Emails we send are removed from our system after they are delivered.

Your choices

  • Correct your details any time under My Family.
  • Choose which emails and notifications you get under Settings. Every newsletter email has an unsubscribe link.
  • Delete your account: on the website go to My account → Settings → Delete my account; in the app go to More → Delete my account. You can also email us and we will do it for you.
  • Ask us for a copy of your information, or ask questions, at .

Security

Information is sent over encrypted connections. Each family can only see its own records, staff access is limited by role, and important actions are logged. No system is perfectly secure; if something goes wrong that affects your information, we will tell you as the law requires.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell members about important changes by email or in the app.
